A Night of Service, Gratitude, and New Beginnings
What an incredible night at the Gala in Champaign, the great state of Illinois, filled with joy, gratitude, and a shared sense of purpose! It was humbling to witness the unity of hearts committed to leaving this world better than we found it through our love for God and service to humanity.
Change Agent Network (CAN) has been honored to partner with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. - Epsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter, based in Champaign, Illinois, for nearly three years. This incredible partnership began with the launching of our vocational tailoring program at the CAN Leadership Academy-Bong (formerly Alexandria A. Andrews Academy) in Bong County, rural Liberia. Thanks to Dr. Sammer Jones's initiative, this life-changing program is thriving, empowering students and community members to learn skills that will transform their futures. This partnership was made possible through the connection and leadership of Dr. Stefania Forte-CAN's Board President.
Last night, I was grateful as I was presented with a $5,000 check to expand the tailoring program to our CAN Leadership Academy-Lofa in Fissibu Town, Zorzor District, Northern Liberia. What an exciting moment for the community! I am deeply thankful to the oldest African American sorority for this partnership, which is a significant milestone for CAN. And a special thanks to the wonderful Drs. Douglas and Sammer Jones, thank you for your warm hospitality during my stay.
Along with this amazing experience, wonderful networking and connections were established, building bridges for future collaboration and expanding the reach of our mission. The power of coming together in service is truly remarkable.
This journey is not about one person or organization—it's about working together, serving with humility, and bringing glory to God. It’s just God paving the way for change and lifting up communities. Lofa County, here we come!
